This month came and went like a shot!
The first saw Audie’s 7th birthday. Can’t believe our nugget is already 7.

Later, as a family, we took a little car ride up to Aurora, Kentucky to the Old Hitching Post general store. We love going there when we go to the lake, but this trip was specifically for their locally made apple butter and old fashioned sodas. Little Man did ok, but there were too many people milling around to want to stay too long. Maybe next time we’ll take the dogs and hit the trails at Land Between the Lakes.
In other news: I made the decision back at the end of July not to return to work. I wasn’t comfortable being face to face with college age students with COVID still looming large. I received the call at the beginning of the month that my company doesn’t offer an extended leave of absence for these circumstances, so my position was officially terminated. That was a bit of a bummer, but I wasn’t holding out much hope.
Luckily, the position is not being opened up at this time and won’t be filled. If they decide to open it, my (former) boss and HR lady both told me they’d let me know so I could reapply. Since we have a history of hiring back people who have left, I thought that was very nice.
We’ll see if our world has returned to normal if that comes about. If not, I am fairly sure we have put enough away to be alright for awhile. I’m just enjoying seeing my son grow and learn and am thankful for the opportunity to be home with him.
The rest of the month was relatively quiet. We had every intention to get out and about, but it just didn’t happen.
Little Man had some gas/tummy troubles for a week or two, so we had an unexpected trip to the pediatrician. It turned out to just be growing pains, but didn’t make it any less heartbreaking not to be able to help him beyond cuddling and trying to soothe him.
Thankfully, he is doing much better now. He’s growing so fast. He’s already 26 inches long and 18lbs 4oz! His doctor thought he looked like a 6 month old, not almost 4 months.

The last weekend of the month, I decided to drag the boys out of the house for a quick antiquing run. I saw a gorgeous lamp a few weeks before at one of the shops and had been kicking myself for not picking it up, so I had to see if it was still there.

I have no idea where it’ll permanently be, but I am thrilled to have snagged it this time. And it was such a steal! The whole booth was discounted so I got it for $25! Well worth it. I also picked up a funky silver giraffe. It’s not old but definitely something you don’t see every day. It’s a nice addition to my collection.
Anyway…I’m hopeful October will bring something in the way of new adventures. At the very least, we’ll have Little Man’s first Halloween. Fingers crossed for a bit more than that before the weather gets too cold.
Until then,
Cheers!

My little man is growing so fast. This grandma, grammy, nana or whatever, misses him dearly. Love you all so much.
