April 2025

Whew, what a month!

We kicked off April with Hina’s 12th birthday.

She loves the new toys.

Then we attended Little Man’s Kindergarten Kickoff.

He enjoyed the scavenger hunt to see the rooms. His favorite was the gym (of course).
The part he most enjoyed was jumping out of the back of the school bus.

I celebrated my 37th birthday even though the Mister had staff duty. It was low key and we got to enjoy some Blackhorse Pub the following afternoon.

We continued with a month full of weekly MFM appointments for Baby Girl, with lots of other yearly visits sprinkled in (dentist and eye doctor).

On one visit, we were surprised with a 3D scan and she really looks like Little Man! She has his lips/nose. Usually, I don’t care for the 3D looks, but this one actually looks pretty nice.

Baby Girl was measuring 5lbs 14oz and in the 72nd percentile at her latest growth scan. She’s marching right along and at this rate, they’re predicting she’ll be 8lbs 2oz at birth. I am hoping not to have another c section this time, but we will see how it plays out. I will know more at my OB appointment on the 8th, fingers crossed.

Then we took on Easter weekend.

We had the egg hunt and family picnic at Little Man’s preschool.

How cute are those milk jug baskets?! Our family supplied like half of them (what can I say? We go through a lot of milk).
Yes, he’s a short king.

This year, they didn’t let the kids keep the eggs so it was a learning curve. Little Man wasn’t sure why the eggs were all empty and kept putting them back down, so he only ended up with 4. We had to explain that he’d get a prize no matter how many eggs he found, but he still had a tough time with the concept.

We made up for the confusion with our yearly visit to Cheekwood for the Great Spring Art Hop. He was able to participate in 2 egg hunts and we found all the painted bunnies except one — which is a running theme for us. The weather was almost perfect, just a little hot and we took it nice and slow.

He didn’t hesitate to keep the eggs in his basket this time.
Trying to do a selfie with one of the bunnies.
His favorite this year.
My favorite this year.

Then we dyed eggs and had our own egg hunt in the backyard for Easter Sunday. The Easter bunny left a note for where to find his basket (daddy had that brilliant idea and Little Man loved it).

We tried using regular crayons before the dye. It didn’t work out too bad, and we learned we have to be careful or the shells will crack when dropped.
Even Roxie’s digging made for great hiding spots.
His big egg had a note from the Bunny and his basket was ready for him on his bed, full of Super Mario goodies.

To wrap up the busy month, we attended the Month of the Military Child Kidsfest on post. We normally don’t go, but it was a beautiful day and I am feeling the time crunch for us to go out as just a family of 3.

Little Man enjoyed the giant slide and bounce houses.

First solo carousel ride.

It’s definitely been an exhausting month and I struggled (ok, I am STILL struggling) with getting absolutely anything done/ready for baby.  Even with only 3-4 more weeks, it still isn’t hitting me. All that countdown is making me is overwhelmed to the point that I simply do nothing and can justify it because I’m sore and huge at this point.

I did manage to get a handful of absolutely must-dos checked off, like baby laundry washed/folded and the carseat base installed and Little Man’s seat moved over to the back passenger side (which may or may not have made me emotional — I know, weird!). I even picked out take-home outfits for Baby Girl and put them in the hospital bag. It’s really a task that should only take 10 minutes, but for some reason, I can’t even do that.

At any rate, May is practically here and there’s still a handful of things going on before Baby Girl makes her big entrance.

Roxie will have her annual vet appointment, Mother’s Day is right there too. We are looking forward to the Savannah Bananas baseball game in Nashville (even if our tickets are in the nosebleeds). And Little Man will have his preschool graduation.

Hopefully by then, we will know more about whether or not we’ll be inducing (which I thought was the plan, but won’t know until the OB appointment the 8th). Time just keeps marching right along.

Until then,
