Just like the end of 2018, 2019 is off to the races. While this month (ok, technically last month now) seemed to drag on day-to-day, it seems to have ended quickly.
January had a lot going on.
We celebrated the Mister’s birthday (I’m a terrible wife and didn’t get him anything) on the 7th.
The following week, Audie had his teeth cleaned and had a growth removed. Thankfully, the growth wasn’t anything to worry about and he actually left it alone to heal. Once again, he was unimpressed with the cone of shame.

He really didn’t like the cone.
The third week of January brought us the most excitement. I got to meet my brother-in-law and his family for the first time. I knew of them, but we hadn’t met properly. The guys got to talking around the Mister’s birthday and one thing led to another, so we ended up making a day trip to Alabama to see them. We didn’t realize how close they actually were to us and have resolved to get together more often.
While we were visiting, we decided to check out Cathedral Caverns State Park in Woodville, Alabama. It was worth the side trip and we were able to spend more quality time with everyone.

The Cathedral Room – can you imagine stumbling on this?!
Sadly, I didn’t have the forethought to get the actual people in a photo as proof — something I will remedy during our next get together!
We also attempted to take on a new venture: adding another four-legged friend to our pack. A former co-worker was fostering a pooch and we thought we’d try to give her a forever home.

She is such a sweetheart!
Unfortunately for us, Audie was not a fan of her in the house. They were fine together in the car, at the pet store, and on walks, but Audie was not having her inside the house. We thought maybe a few play dates might help, but Audie has been the baby of the house for far too long to have to compete with an unfamiliar adult dog. We are open to trying again, but we don’t want to keep her from someone who can love her without the added stress. Plus, said former co-worker has stopped responding to my inquiries and I don’t have the patience to play that game.
In that same vein, we have put our names in for a puppy that should be available in a couple of months. Audie should do better with a pup, but we shall see when the time comes. Regardless, I see us adding a new four-legged friend in the near future.
This last week has been hectic for us as well. The Mister got PRK eye surgery and is currently on the mend. I’m a bit jealous that he will be able to see clearly without corrective lenses, but I don’t envy his healing time. It has to be rather frustrating for him. Thankfully, he’s been cleared to drive again, so I’m not missing work more than I have to to take him to his appointments. I already miss him in his black framed glasses though — Army issued or not, he could pull them off.

Bye bye glasses! He probably wouldn’t want me to share this one, but he doesn’t read this blog anyway. Haha!
The end of the month has also brought us some very spring-like weather. It was nearly 70° for the past few days so Audie and I have spent a good chunk of time outside. I even put my mandevilla back out to get some unfiltered sunshine. I think she perked up significantly.

Unfortunately, this beauty will have to come back inside before the weekend hits. Temps this weekend are set to drop 30°+.
The furbutts will have to bundle back up going into the weekend.

Audie, Taz, Hina, and Jack all got bundled up from the last cold spell.
Going into February, I don’t see there being much time to adventure. I only have this weekend off from work and it’ll be chilly so we likely won’t be up to much. I am going to try to make something happen though.
Before we know it, it’ll be March.
Until next time,
Cheers!
