July

How on Earth is half the year already over? July seemed to be on warp speed. I blinked and it was over.

The Waid clan had an eventful July.

We started at full blast and didn’t stop until it was already over.

My sweet first “born” Jack turned 8 on the 1st. Words cannot express how much this toothless orange boy means to me. He picked me out at the shelter and has been by my side ever since. He’s truly the best baby I could ever ask for.

Then we celebrated Independence Day by meeting my parents at Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky.

Huge lake!

We stayed at a cabin they rented and spent the 4th on a pontoon boat with the dogs and the Hozas. It was a blast. I’m pretty sure everyone decided that owning a lake house/boat is a must for the future.

We didn’t watch a firework show this year–frankly our neighborhood shot off enough in the first week that we were already over them by the 4th.

Later that week one of my nearest and dearest friends, Troy, was down with the Army Band for a few weeks. It was so nice to see him and catch up. Once again, I neglected a photo for proof.

The highlight of my month had to be the Hocus Pocus book sequel coming out. It was great to relive the awesomeness that is the Hocus Pocus screenplay. Then to discover the continuation of the story…it was magical to say the least.

Audie made for good company while I dove into this one.

Once again, I added to my Bombshells statue collection. Twice. Wonder Woman’s deluxe statue is infinitely better than her original.

She’s almost too tall for the display case.

And Killer Frost’s extremely exclusive Local Comic Shop Day statue was well worth the hunt.

Limited to 500 pieces, I am so lucky to have found her for retail.

Sadly, the Waid luck reared its ugly head shortly after. The Mister was in an accident on Friday the 13th. His poor Charger was totaled.

The aftermath.

Thankfully no one was hurt. Unfortunately, the Charger was already paid off and we had just put new tires on less than a week prior.

So, we had to start our car search. And everyone knows how much I hate car shopping.

Luckily, I found a suitable replacement for him. It’s not red like he wanted but it’s a sharp car.

The rest of the month has been a blur of work.

The Mister has been in and out of the field and is gearing up to be away for training again. They say there’s a deployment coming up, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

In the meantime, we’re going to be squeezing in as much as we can on the adventure front (funding provided–two car payments are no joke!). For this month we don’t have a whole lot slated other than another local brewery and a minor league baseball game. I suppose I’ll keep everyone updated.

Until then!

Cheers!

A. xoxo
